Amazing how those CDs can transform your life. I was recently talking (in the comments of another Substack) about how I found Nick Drake through an NME cover CD.
I have some, but others are lost to the mists of time. Fortunately, almost all of them are recorded on discogs.com, so I’ve been able to reconstruct them as Spotify playlists.
That's a great idea. I have tried to do that as well. A long time ago I digitized 900 CDs into iTunes. Then Apple came out with iTunes Match. Now they are all stored in my cloud-base music library. I've since download that to an external hard drive. Back-ups, baby.
Ive never heard this version. Always loved the tune. Its kinda like Statesboro Blues in that it's impossible to not feel good when you listen to it.

The randomness of those CDs is what made them great. I downloaded most of them to iTunes way back when. They live on in Apple’s iCloud Match service.
